REX Knowledge Center’s Cradle For Artworks
Illustrations.
Visual designs. Creative Images. Conceptualizations. These are the
responsibilities which the members of the Art Section of the Creatives
Department upholds in their line of work.
Elements like these are vital in a textbook because words alone will not
help the readers fully comprehend what they are reading thus, features like
these that are found in textbooks are being provided by the Arts Section of the
Creatives Department or also known as the Illustration Unit.
Skillful
people with “natatagong talino” are greatly needed in the Illustration Unit
especially those who are proficient in drawing or illustrating. This section’s
work mainly focuses on the book’s pictures, drawings, and illustrations. Furthermore,
the Illustration Unit is responsible for providing these illustrations for the
books in their “series” or the textbooks used in schools especially for
elementary students, high school students and for college students.
The Arts
Section is currently composed of eight employees. The Lead Illustrator of the
Illustration Unit is Ronald Dennis Isidro who has been working here in REX for
10 years, his co-illustrators are Archie Baluyot who has been with REX for 18
to 19 years already; Herman Banildo and Bryan Rafael, who are on their third
year; Elmer Reyes with 15 years of working experience here in REX also, and
Roman Angelo Cruz, who is in his fifth year.
The two other
members are the Imaging Specialists. Lowie Guevarra, who has been working here in
REX for nine years; and Karl Baldon, a probationary employee who is on his
sixth month. On a side note, these Imaging Specialists are the ones who take
charge in light works when an illustrator is not present.
Like the once
great Quintus Horatius Flaccus said, “A picture is a poem without words.” Artworks
in textbooks may seem fewer than the texts but it can also give information to
the readers. These creative images and visual designs are just as important as
the words and contents in textbooks. Like in REX Knowledge Center (RKC), the
Arts Section is just as important as the other sections in other departments. The
Arts Section may seem small in terms of the number of employees, this section
filled with talented people can always make a huge impact and contributions to
the well-established company.
